Step 8 - Find your passion
Quit the nonsense
Life’s too short.
Millions of people, if not billions, go through life doing things they are not passionate about. They go to work to do mindless or semi-mindless monkey-work, fully understanding the irrelevance of what they’re doing. These same people come home at night, microwave their food, lay down in their couch, go to bed and start over again the next day.
Recognise yourself? Do yourself a favour and stop this nonsense.
If you don’t like your job, start looking for a new one.
If you’re the guy laying in his couch every evening, get a hobby.
Personally, I quit my job and started somewhere new exactly one month after I realised there was a big misalignment between myself and the company I used to work for. I took a deep look at myself, realised I spent too much time in front of the tv and started listening to audiobooks and going on long walks instead.
Passion. What is that?
For myself, I like to link passion to the concept of flow. When you are doing something and fully lose your sense of time, odds are you’re in a state of flow. Whenever I’m doing something I’m passionate about, this state of flow comes near.
Find the things you’re passionate about and do more of them. Be it at work or in your private life, don’t waste your time doing stuff that doesn’t matter.
